Also, the person's mental and emotional health is considered, as agencies look favorably upon stable, well-rounded candidates. Age is another factor; most programs only accept women between the ages of 21-39. Lastly, lifestyle habits such as smoking, drug use, or excessive drinking can also lead to a rejected application. Ultimately, all these measures are meant to protect both the surrogate and the unborn child.
