BASIC COMPENSATION UP TO $75,000

At Modooboo Fertility Consulting, the basic compensation for a surrogate up to $75,000. This payment is structured in a way to support the surrogate throughout the pregnancy. After the confirmation of a fetal heartbeat via ultrasound, the surrogate receives monthly payments over a period of 10 months. The first payment is scheduled for the 1st of the month following the confirmation of pregnancy. This compensation continues monthly for the duration of the pregnancy. After the birth, the balance of the compensation is paid within two weeks (14 days). This structured approach ensures that the surrogate is financially supported during the crucial phases of pregnancy and immediately after birth, reflecting our commitment to the well-being and care of our surrogates.

MONTHLY ALLOWANCE $400/MONTH ($4800-$6000)

We provide a monthly allowance of $400, which accumulates to a total of $4,800 to $6,000 over a period of 12 to 15 months. This allowance is designed to cover various incidental expenses that arise as part of the surrogacy arrangement. These expenses can include local travel, meals, telephone bills, postage and fax charges, as well as childcare costs during doctor and lab appointments. Additionally, it covers the cost of non-prescription vitamins or supplements and other over-the-counter products that might be needed.

The monthly expense allowance is non-accountable, meaning it is provided to assist the surrogate with these expenses without the need for itemized reporting. This financial support begins on the first of the month following the signing of the surrogacy agreement and continues until one month after the birth of the child or upon the termination of the agreement. This approach ensures that our surrogates are adequately supported and can manage additional expenses without concern, further emphasizing our commitment to their comfort and well-being during the surrogacy journey.

INJECTION START FEE $1,000

We understand the physical and emotional commitment involved in the surrogacy process, especially when it comes to medical procedures like injectable medication. To support our surrogates during this phase, we offer an Injection Start Fee of $1,000. This fee is provided as compensation to the surrogate when they begin their injectable medication regimen as part of the surrogacy process.

In scenarios where more than one medication cycle is necessary, the surrogate will receive this compensation for each additional cycle. However, this is contingent on the requirement for another cycle being no fault of the surrogate. It's important to note that this compensation is specifically for cycles involving injectable medication and does not apply to mock cycles.

This approach is part of our commitment to ensuring that surrogates are fairly compensated for the integral role they play in the surrogacy journey, recognizing the additional responsibilities and efforts that come with medical treatments.

MISCARRIAGE FEE $800

To support our surrogates through these potentially difficult times, we have a specific policy in place for instances of miscarriage. If a surrogate experiences a miscarriage, which is determined either by a positive HCG blood test without a subsequent detection of a fetal heartbeat upon ultrasound, or if a miscarriage occurs before the first pregnancy payment is received, the surrogate is entitled to a miscarriage fee of $800.

This fee is a part of our commitment to providing support and acknowledging the emotional impact of such an event on the surrogate. It is a recognition of the surrogate's commitment and the challenges faced during the early stages of pregnancy. Our aim is to ensure that surrogates feel supported and valued, especially during more challenging times in their surrogacy journey.

CESAREAN SECTION $5,000

In the case of a Cesarean section (C-section), a surrogate is entitled to a compensation of $5,000. This amount is designed to cover additional needs that may arise due to the nature of this surgical procedure.

The $5,000 compensation includes expenses related to childcare and housekeeping, acknowledging that a C-section might necessitate extra help and recovery time. It's important to note, however, that this fee does not include compensation for lost wages. The surrogate's recovery and the additional support required during this period are our priorities, and this fee is intended to ease the burden during the post-operative phase.

MATERNITY CLOTHING ALLOWANCE $1,000/1,200

We provide a Maternity Clothing Allowance to support our surrogates as they adapt to the physical changes during pregnancy. Understanding the need for comfortable and suitable maternity wear, we offer an allowance of $1,000 for a singleton pregnancy and $1,200 for multiples.

This allowance is made available at the 20-week mark of the pregnancy. The differentiation in the allowance amount between singleton and multiple pregnancies acknowledges the likely increased need for a more extensive maternity wardrobe in cases of multiple pregnancies.

INVASIVE PROCEDURE INCONVENIENCE FEE $600

We recognize that certain medical procedures during the surrogacy journey can be particularly demanding or invasive for the surrogate. To address this, we offer an Invasive Procedure Inconvenience Fee of $600. This fee is specifically for procedures that are not routinely part of a standard pregnancy and may include:

  • Dilation and Curettage (D&C), except when performed as part of any other procedure that's listed below.

  • Abortion or pregnancy termination procedures.

  • Management of an Ectopic Pregnancy, where the pregnancy occurs outside the uterus.

  • Fetal Reduction procedures.

  • Placement of a Cerclage, which is a stitch used to close the cervix to prevent or delay preterm birth.

  • Amniocentesis or Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS), which are diagnostic tests that may be required during pregnancy.

The provision of this fee is to acknowledge the additional physical and emotional burden these procedures may place on the surrogate. It is designed to offer some financial relief and support during what can be a challenging time.

BONUS 2K-6K

We offer a bonus to our surrogates as a token of appreciation for their invaluable contribution to the journey of parenthood. This bonus is awarded after the successful delivery of the baby, ranging from $2,000 to $6,000.

The intention behind this bonus is to acknowledge the dedication, effort, and the physical and emotional journey our surrogates undertake in carrying and delivering a child. We understand that surrogacy is a significant commitment, and this bonus serves as a gesture of gratitude for the surrogate's role in helping individuals or couples achieve their dream of becoming parents.

LOSS OF REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS $1,000-$5,000

We provide a compensation plan for the rare and unfortunate event where a surrogate may suffer the loss of reproductive organs as a direct consequence of the pregnancy or its termination. This compensation acknowledges the significant impact such a loss can have on the surrogate's health and future fertility.

In the specific circumstance where a surrogate requires a hysteroscopy due to conditions arising from the pregnancy, and if this results in the loss of reproductive organs, the surrogate is entitled to compensation based on the specific organ lost. This compensation is contingent upon the loss occurring within 12 days of the birth or termination of the pregnancy, and it must be verified by the attending doctor as being a direct result of the pregnancy or its termination. The compensation amounts are allocated as follows:

  • Loss of Uterus: $5,000

  • Loss of Ovary: $1,000

  • Loss of Fallopian Tube: $1,000

LONG DISTANCE TRAVEL $0.6/MILE

We acknowledge the travel requirements that can sometimes be necessary for our surrogates as part of their surrogacy commitment. To support our surrogates in this aspect, we offer a Long Distance Travel reimbursement policy.

Under this policy, if a surrogate needs to travel more than 50 miles round trip from her home for required surrogacy-related activities, she will receive a mileage reimbursement. This reimbursement is set at a rate of $0.60 per mile for the distance traveled beyond the initial 50 miles. This payment is in addition to the monthly expense allowance that the surrogate receives.

HOUSEKEEPING FROM 3RD TRIMESTER $300/MONTH FOR 3RD TRIMESTER $900

Recognizing the increasing demands and physical limitations that can arise during the later stages of pregnancy, we provide a Housekeeping Allowance for our surrogates. This allowance is specifically designed to support them during the third trimester.

Starting from the first week of the third trimester, a surrogate is entitled to a monthly housekeeping allowance of $300. This allowance is intended to assist with housekeeping expenses, acknowledging that as the pregnancy progresses, the surrogate might require additional help at home. The total allowance provided for the third trimester amounts to $900.

To receive this compensation, the surrogate is required to submit a receipt. This policy ensures that the funds are utilized for their intended purpose. It's important to note that this housekeeping allowance concludes upon the delivery of the baby or babies.

In cases where the surrogate is placed on doctor-ordered bed rest, this situation takes precedence, and the housekeeping allowance is voided. This policy underlines our understanding of the varying needs of surrogates as they approach childbirth and our commitment to providing them with appropriate support during this crucial phase of pregnancy.

BREAST MILK $200/WEEK

We offer a flexible and optional compensation plan for surrogates who choose to provide breast milk post-delivery. Recognizing the valuable nutritional benefits of breast milk for newborns and the commitment required to express and supply it, we provide a Breast Milk Compensation of $200 per week.

This compensation is contingent on the situation and the agreement between the surrogate and the intended parents. It is not a mandatory requirement but an option available to surrogates who are willing and able to provide this service. The decision to provide breast milk is entirely at the discretion of the surrogate and is based on her ability, comfort, and mutual agreement with the intended parents.

LIFE INSURANCE UP TO $1,000

We place a high priority on the security and well-being of our surrogates, which includes providing a comprehensive life insurance policy. In our surrogacy arrangements, we ensure that our surrogates are covered by a life insurance policy with a benefit of up to $350,000. The cost of the insurance premium, up to $1,000, is covered by the intended parents, not the surrogate.

Additionally, this policy includes a $100,000 benefit specifically for the intended parents (IPs). This aspect of the policy is designed to provide financial security and peace of mind for both the surrogate and the intended parents throughout the surrogacy journey.

HEALTH INSURANCE UP TO $30,000

We ensure that our surrogates receive the necessary healthcare coverage throughout their pregnancy, with the intended parents (IPs) bearing the financial responsibility for this coverage. Our health insurance policy for surrogates is designed to provide comprehensive care, with a cap on the insurance cost set at $30,000, and an increased cap of $43,500 in the event of a twin pregnancy.

The intended parents are responsible for covering all costs associated with the surrogate's obstetric care (OB care) until she can apply for and activate a new health insurance policy. This includes paying for the health insurance premiums, as well as any copayments and deductibles that arise as part of the surrogate's medical care.

Should there be an increase in the health insurance premium during the course of the surrogacy, the intended parents are also responsible for covering this additional amount. This policy ensures that the surrogate does not face any financial burden for medical expenses related to the pregnancy and that she has access to the necessary healthcare services.

PHYSICIAN ORDERED BED REST OR RESTRICTED PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

We have a comprehensive policy in place to support our surrogates in the event of physician-ordered bed rest or restricted physical activity. This policy is designed to ensure that surrogates are financially compensated for any lost wages due to these medical requirements, as well as to cover additional expenses incurred during this period.

  1. Compensation for Lost Wages:

    • If a surrogate is placed on bed rest or has restricted physical activity as ordered by a physician, she is eligible for compensation for her lost earnings. This compensation is limited to the net lost earnings after all deductions, and only to the amount that is not covered by State Disability Insurance.

    • To be eligible for this compensation from the Intended Parents, the surrogate must file a disability claim.

    • The compensation for lost wages is typically paid 6 weeks after a vaginal delivery and 8 weeks after a Cesarean section (C-section).

  2. Reimbursement for Additional Expenses:

    • In addition to lost wages, the surrogate is entitled to reimbursement for reasonable expenses incurred due to the inability to perform certain activities. This includes expenses for services like housekeeping and childcare during the period of bed rest or restricted activity.

    • The maximum reimbursement amount available to the surrogate during this period is $250 per week.

    • This benefit extends for a maximum duration as follows: up to 6 weeks after a miscarriage or abortion, 6 weeks following a vaginal delivery, or 8 weeks following a C-section birth.

TWINS: $10,000

In the event of a multiple pregnancy, our surrogate will receive an extra fee of $10,000. This additional compensation acknowledges the increased physical and emotional care required for a healthy and successful multiple pregnancy.

This $10,000 fee is supplementary to the basic surrogate compensation and is divided into monthly payments, similar to the structure of the basic compensation. It is designed to ease the financial aspects of the additional responsibilities and needs that come with a multiple pregnancy.
